The problem with rats

Rodents love to gnaw, especially rats.  The reason for this is their two front incisors never stop growing, so without gnawing away at different materials they could not keep those teeth at an acceptable size to eat and groom themselves. The incisors have a very hard enamel coating, this allows them to chew through even hard materials such as lead, aluminium, and soft concrete. The gnawing habit can cause damage to internal wiring of homes and businesses, which could be a potential fire risk, or cut off the power to light and electrics.

The brown rat – pest control service

The common brown rat (rattus norvegicus) never ceases to amaze me. During the daily course of my work I have grown to admire there tenacity to take advantage of every situation available to them, from there ability to climb just about anything, and find there way into our loft or cavity walls, to there very sharp incisor teeth which can gnaw through metals and even concrete. They can swim up to half a mile on open water and dive to a depth of 3 ft or more. There has been a case where a local river authority had concerns, because the rats were diving to take the swan mussels ofF the river bed.

Mouse invasion (pest control Chelmsford)

A recent call from a customer in the Brentwood area, found us surveying an old house with a large presence of mice. One of there children had also spotted a rat on the kitchen table, so clearly something had to be done.We discussed the options, and decided baiting would be the way forward to get this pest problem under control again. When baiting for mice, the more bait you put down the better as they are sporadic feeders, and in this house all rooms and the loft showed evidence that mice were running a mock.
